Collective Awakenings

2823 NE Sandy Blvd., 503-206-7090, collectiveawakenings.com. 10 am-

10 pm daily.

The lobby of this Green Mile gem is the first clue that you're not at your average dispensary. It's all wood panels, with a tree made from reclaimed wood. And there's a resident Australian bearded dragon named Gary. You'll feel like you've wandered into a magical forest. The jovial, helpful person working at the front desk adds to the grown-up, fairy-tale vibe, kindly directing you through the door to the dispensary, where smiley budtenders await. Collective Awakenings always has a good selection of flower, and its prices are similar to others along Sandy Boulevard. But, unlike some shops, it sells partial grams. When edibles become legal, expect medicated gum drops to rain from the sky—this place is enchanted.

Lizzy Acker is Willamette Week's former web editor. Her first book, Monster Party, came out in 2010. She was born in Oregon, lived in San Francisco for almost eight years and then moved back to Oregon, just like everyone always knew she would.

Willamette Week’s reporting has concrete impacts that change laws, force action from civic leaders, and drive compromised politicians from public office.
