Bloom

2637 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., 503-444-7538, bloomportland.com. 11 am-9 pm Monday-Saturday, noon-7 pm Sunday.

Bloom is an unfussy, concrete corner with no street-level windows that looks like a green Army bunker neighboring the Nike Factory Store, a dilapidated McCoy Plumbing showroom and William Park's Art Studio. Inside, there are three basic cases: one for topicals and edibles, one filled with jars of flower and handy color-coded labels, one for vapes from brands like Truly Pure and GoldenXTRX. The glass selection is small, one corner shelf tucked in back, but the huge chalkboard of specials, a bargain bin, and unexpected twee touches like succulents give you plenty of pretty things to look at. But it mostly feels like a quick stop for neighborhood guys in baseball caps and pristine Kobe 11s.

Willamette Week

Former Stage & Screen editor Enid Spitz writes about theater, repertory film, fashion and dance scenes when she’s not doing doing yoga or exploring pop-up events around the city.

Willamette Week’s reporting has concrete impacts that change laws, force action from civic leaders, and drive compromised politicians from public office.
