Construction Sign Near Sellwood Bridge Read: “Fuck Bitches, Get $$$” Yesterday Morning

Apparently there's a local Notorious B.I.G. fan also well-versed in construction sign technology.

Biggie Small's famous lyric "Fuck bitches, get money" greeted drivers headed northbound toward the Sellwood Bridge Sunday morning. Because nothing screams "The Notorious B.I.G." like a hacked construction sign.

The Oregon Department of Transportation weren't even aware of it until they got a call around 7 am. Later, someone posted a picture of the sign near Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard.

By the time crew members arrived at the scene, a good Samaritan—apparently uninterested in the B.I.G. lifestyle and possibly on their way to church?—had turned the sign away from traffic.

Dylan Rivera, Portland Bureau of Transportation spokesperson, called it "a common prank." That's right Portland; your shenanigans are an expected part of the job at PBOT.

Independent contractors regularly use the signs, which means both ODOT and PDOT aren't technically in charge of shutting them off. In this case, the sign was used for helping to direct traffic from a closure along McLoughlin during "summer construction season" according to a press release.

ODOT officer Don Hamilton says the sign was most likely hacked using a keyboard inside the sign. But the perpetrators would have to "have some knowledge about it" if they wanted to break in. Mr. Robot fans, rejoice.

The last time ODOT got wind of a similar situation was in January. A different sign blasted a "vulgarity at President Trump," according to ODOT spokesperson Don Hamilton. He declined to give specifics. That one was shut off too, for some reason.

Biggie would probably approve, but there's no guarantee every hacked sign will be this hilarious. If you see any—or encounter similar traffic obstructions—you are supposed to give PBOT a ring at (503) 823-5185, or fax them at (503) 823-7576.

Ah, faxing.
