Southeast 60th Avenue and Salmon Street.
Many Portlanders—from the surrounding neighborhood and beyond—consider Mount Tabor their favorite park. The sheer density of the flora and fauna coupled with the sloping terrain takes you completely out of the city and into something that resembles Jurassic Park more than Southeast Portland. That may be because it's the site of one of four extinct volcanoes located inside American cities. Note the fabulous reservoirs and gatehouses on the park's west side. Every August, Mount Tabor Park is also the site of Portland's Adult Soapbox Derby. Swing by nearby Cheese Bar ahead of time for picnic supplies. Bring your Pax and leashed pet for a perfect afternoon.
