Dave Simonett

[TURTLE POWER] Dave Simonett is the busy frontman for Minnesota folk outfit Trampled By Turtles. Aside from his side project, Dead Man Winter, Simonett occasionally tours on his own, greeting cities with his hazy and expansive folk-rock. His solo EP,Razor Pony, hits hard. It's a sobering helping of early Band of Horses indie-country. There's a spacy side to Simonett's sound as well, the likely product of operating under the open terrain his own record label affords. Trampled By Turtles may be Simonett's baby, but his solo work feels like his senior thesis. MARK STOCK. Doug Fir Lounge, 830 E Burnside St. 9 pm. $15. 21+.

Swingin' Utters, Success, the Bombpop, the Brass

[STREET PUNK] It's been at least 15 years since the Bay Area's Swingin' Utters released anything truly anthemic. But during its first decade of punky proselytizing, everything from weekday drudgery to the necessity of devious means were fair game. So much time later, a broader worldview is opened up the material for 2014's Fistful of Hollow. Like a batch of street-punk groups from the '90s, though, an unsettling folk-cum-Irish balladeer influence has come to hold sway. It's served to slow to the Swingin' Utters a bit, just not enough to smooth out Johnny Peebucks' vocals. DAVE CANTOR. Hawthorne Theatre, 1507 SE Cesar Chavez Blvd. 7 pm. $15. All ages.

Eyelids, Sama Dams

[POWER POP] Eyelids, the indie-pop supergroup featuring members of the Decemberists and Guided By Voices, kick off their national tour with local art-rockers Sama Dams. Mississippi Studios, 3939 N Mississippi Ave. 10 pm. $10. 21+.
