A Brief History of David Bowie in Portland

A stroll through all the times the Thin White Duke came through town, via the WW archives.

As you've surely heard by now, David Bowie has passed away.

Thankfully, Bowie isn't only immortalized in his 28 studio albums, or in the guy I met at a Halloween party dressed as David Bro-ie (ugh), but in the memories of thousands of concerts—a handful of which took place in Portland. We went through our archives (and The Oregonian's) and dug up some of those memories.

Oct. 31, 1972, at Paramount Theater (first known appearance of Bowie in Portland, blurb from The Oregonian):

Geez, we were a little hard on him, weren't we?

WW regrets the error. The many, many errors.

P.S.: You can join the group of cyclists who are meeting at 5 pm tonight at Waterfront Park (at Southwest Pine Street) for a memorial ride and dance party.
