Former Governor Barbara Roberts Endorses Jules Bailey in Portland Mayor's Race

Roberts' nod is a coup for Bailey, who got into the race four months after Oregon Treasurer Ted Wheeler announced he would run.

It's three against one now.

Former Oregon Gov. Barbara Roberts announced today she's endorsing Multnomah County Commissioner Jules Bailey in his bid for Portland mayor.

"Jules was raised in a family that taught him two important values—hard work and shared responsibility," Roberts wrote in a prepared statement issued by Bailey's campaign. "He has lived by those values as a citizen, an elected leader, and a father and husband."

Roberts' nod is a coup for Bailey, who got into the race four months after Oregon Treasurer Ted Wheeler announced he would run.

In October, long before Bailey jumped in, three former Portland mayors—Vera Katz, Tom Potter and Sam Adams—announced they would side with Wheeler.
