Forest Grove lawyer Timothy Marble is making another run for office, this time trying to unseat incumbent Washington County Circuit Court Judge Ted Sims.
Marble ran for mayor in his home town of Forest Grove in 2014, narrowly losing to incumbent Mayor Peter Truax by fewer than two percentage points.
But for someone anxious for a public sector paycheck, Marble has neglected a basic civic responsibility—paying his property taxes.
Washington County assessment and taxation records show that taxes at his office, which Mable owns, have not been paid for four years. Mable owes $5,706 in delinquent taxes on the property for the tax years 2012 through 2014.
On the property he lists as his home address, and which records show is owned by a Marble family trust, the taxes are also delinquent. The current tax statement shows $11,364 in unpaid taxes from the years 2012 through 2014.
Marble, who has been practicing law in Oregon for more than 20 years, and who according to his website specializes in trusts and real estate, expressed surprise when asked about the unpaid taxes.
"I'm not sure what you're talking about," Marble tells WW. "I'll look into it and find out."
