Environmental Group Rescinds Endorsement of Eric Zimmerman

The Oregon League of Conservation Voters says only that it made a mistake in giving Zimmerman the nod.

The Oregon League of Conservation Voters has rescinded its endorsement of Eric Zimmerman, a candidate for the Multnomah County Commission running against Dr. Sharon Meieran.

Doug Moore, executive director of the OLCV, offered a limited explanation for the highly unusual move, saying there wasn't one single cause.

"We felt we had made a mistake," he says.

The group endorsed Zimmerman, chief of staff to Commissioner Diane McKeel at the end of August. A representative told Zimmerman on Friday the group had changed its mind.

Zimmerman called the news disappointing but couldn't offer an explanation of his own.

OLCV isn't endorsing Meieran in the race. Moore says the group is now staying neutral.
