Poll: Oregon Governor's Race Tracking Much Closer Than the Presidential Contest

Dr. Bud Pierce may make Gov. Kate Brown's reelection bid a close race.

A new poll shows strong support among Oregon voters for Hillary Clinton—and a much closer race for Gov. Kate Brown.

A SurveyUSA poll of likely Oregon voters, conducted for WW's news partner KATU-TV, shows Democratic nominee Clinton with a 10-point lead over Republican nominee Donald Trump, whose campaign has descended into chaos after the revelation of taped comments where he bragged about sexual assault.

Among likely voters, Clinton leads Trump 48 percent to 38 percent.

The race for Oregon governor, however, isn't nearly so clear-cut. Incumbent Democratic Gov. Kate Brown leads Republican challenger Dr. Bud Pierce by just four percentage points, 46 percent to 42 percent.
