At least 88 drivers crashed their vehicles during the snow on Monday night and Tuesday morning after a dusting of snow and a slick layer of ice covered Portland streets.

Police responded to 48 crashes where no one was injured. Another 10 crashes involved injuries. There were 12 hit and runs.

Those 88 crashes over a 16-hour period mean Portlanders averaged more than five wrecks an hour during the snowfall.

That's much higher than the crashes for the same timeframe on the previous Monday and Tuesday. Police only responded to 20 crashes between 8 pm Monday and 12pm Tuesday.

Most of the snow has melted, but more frosty conditions are possible this weekend and next week.
