Cheap Eats 2005

This "Dots by day" is a gorgeous green and gold diner styled with ornate gilt mirrors, arresting damask wallpaper, and comfort fare for the morning hours. Healthy scrambles like the 12th Avenue ($6.75) pack in the veggies--corn, scallions and shredded zucchini. Innovative meatless options make the place a haven for vegetarians--most dishes can be made critter-free. The wait on weekends can be long, but a time-killing stroll through the beautiful Ladd's Addition neighborhood never hurt anybody.
