Cheap Eats 2009

Ohana's Hawaiian fare is as good as what you'll find on the islands, and sometimes even better. The Aloha Plate ($10.50) of salt-, garlic- and ginger-rubbed beef short ribs and teriyaki chicken breast with a scoop of sticky rice and mac salad is outstanding. The Spam sushi side wrapped in nori (Spam musubi, $2.50) is odd but tasty. Ohana drinks may all be nonalcoholic, but that's made up for by the shave ice ($2.50). Most kids and some adults demand one for dessert even when it's snowing. (LC)
