Bar Guide 2015: Beech Street Parlor

This twee parlor pub is aimed at the sort of people who nurse drinks and make eyes. Housed inside an old house in the King neighborhood, it even has little pink cupcakes perched on the bar—they're frosting-forward and quite buttery. You can be half of that nice couple and drink an orange blossom gimlet that smells just like a Florida grove. Or you could act like a pro, grab a stool and pound $3.50 wells from the very generous happy-hour menu, available until 8 pm every day. Should any of the nice people look at you askance, request one of the cupcakes.

Happy hour: 5-8 pm nightly, all day Monday. $3.50 wells and $1 off draft beers.

Entertainment: DJs, front patio, examining the soaps in the upstairs restroom.
