Bar Guide 2015: The Hop & Vine

1914 N Killingsworth St., 954-3322, thehopandvine.com. 3-11 pm Monday-Wednesday, 3 pm-midnight Thursday-Friday, 10 am-midnight Saturday, 10 am-11 pm Sunday.

Know how magazines advertise a particular item of clothing as something you can "dress up or dress down?" That's the Hop & Vine. On a nice night, grab a bottle of biodynamic wine from the attached shop and order a plate of bacon-wrapped dates ($2 each) and the Steve's Cheese Board ($15). Or you come here for Jell-O shots ($3) and popcorn ($1). Either way, sit on the large, shaded back patio and say hey to the NoPo beer geeks who pretty much circulate between here and Saraveza. When they're here, they get the burger—it's a good one, and suitable for pretty much any occasion.

Happy hour: 3-6 pm and 10-11 pm daily. $2 off select food and drink.

Entertainment: Patio life.
