Veganopolis

It isn't always easy to find a quality vegetarian meal downtown—especially one that uses no dairy and plays a rocking soundtrack. Veganopolis is an herbivore's mecca with an impressive selection of tasty sandwiches, including the truly delectable smoked barbecue tofu ($7.95) on fresh-baked como or rye, and housemade soups served in sturdy white mugs. The cafeteria-style setting is perfect for catching up with your neighbor while splitting a vegan cupcake and deciding what basics (soy and almond milk, veganaise) you want to purchase on your way out. Sure beats the cafeteria food we all grew up with. (MM)
