More Favorable National Poll Trends for Same-Sex Marriage

Next weekend there will be a "Politics of Love"  celebration in Portland to mark the seventh anniversary of when same-sex marriages enjoyed a brief window of legal approval in Multnomah County.

And people attending the March 25-27 events presented by the First Unitarian Church will have some fresh news to celebrate. A new Washington Post-ABC News national poll shows a narrow majority supporting marriage rights for same-sex couples.

Those numbers reflect growing support compared to previous Washington Post-ABC News surveys and is in keeping with trends in other recent national polls about same-sex marriage.

Supporters of same-sex marriage rights are considering a ballot measure for the 2012 election in Oregon that would ask voters to overturn Measure 36, the voter-approved state initiative that banned same-sex marriage.
