LocalCut's Live Reel: Wild Ones, "Rivals"

Wild Ones

For LocalCut's second Live Reel shoot, we hauled Portland's Wild Ones and an elevator's worth of instruments to the atrium of Noble Rot, a restaurant and wine bar on East Burnside with a mighty fine view of downtown. Playing a semi-electric set—which included a small Casio keyboard and an electric guitar hooked up to a belt amp (literally, an amplifier attached to a belt)—the band delivered a stripped-down version of its new song "Rivals," which will be on its forthcoming full-length debut album.

The six-piece, made up of Danielle Sullivan, Thomas Himes, Clayton Knapp, Nick Vicario, Andy Parker and Lauren Jacobson, was voted fourth in WW's Best New Band poll last year. So, we were definitely eager to capture the group's sweet, sweet vocal harmonies and catchy synth-pop sound.
