Metro Says Headquarters Hotel Deal Slipping Again

Oregon Convention Center

The decades-in-discussion Oregon Convention Center headquarters hotel is sliding into the future, Metro  says in an internal report.

All three branches of government involved—Metro, Multnomah County and the City of Portland—earlier this year signaled they are likely to approve a 600-room, $200 million project to be built by Mortenson Development and owned and operated by Hyatt Hotels.

But Metro, which operates the Convention Center, has still not yet nailed down terms with Hyatt.

As WW reported in a September cover story, the tentative terms of the deal call for $80 million in public subsidy.
