Bend-Based 10 Barrel Brewing Acquired by Anheuser-Busch

Portland soon home to Bud-owned brewery

Bend's 10 Barrel Brewing announced this morning they've been acquired by Anheuser-Busch brewery, parent of Budweiser.

"We've realized there are things we're good at, and there are also some things that challenge us," say 10 Barrel brewers Garrett Wales, Chris Cox and Jeremy Cox in a video released today. "We want you to hear from us that Anheuser Busch is acquiring 10 Barrel."

The brewers say there will be few noticeable changes immediately following the sale, and that the same brewing team will continue to make the beers. 10 Barrel's Swill was our runner up for beer of the year in 2013.

10 Barrel is scheduled to open a brewery and pub in the Pearl District at 1411 NW Flanders St. by early next year, which means, technically, Anheuser Busch will soon own a brewery in the middle of Portland. Congratulations, Portland brewing scene: You've hit the big time.

Here's the video.
