Oregonian Chairman N. Christian Anderson III is Leaving for The Eugene Register-Guard

Ex-Oregonian Publisher N. Christian Anderson III

The Oregonian announced this morning that its chairman, N. Christian Anderson III, is leaving the newspaper to become editor and publisher of The Eugene Register-Guard.

Anderson became The Oregonian's publisher in late 2009. He's overseen radical changes at the state's largest newspaper: He cut home delivery to four days a week, laid off nearly a quarter of the newsroom staff and imposed web quotas for reporters.

The Oregonian and The Register-Guard announced Anderson's move around 11 am.

The Oregonian said Steve Moss, hired one month ago as president of Oregonian Media Group, would take on most of Anderson's duties.
