Bazi Bierbrasserie

Portland's coziest Old World beer bar—tucked away just off increasingly tourist-dominated Hawthorne Boulevard—is curated with the terrific taste of owner Hilda Stevens. The selections pouring from the 17 taps are well-crafted, mostly centering on a rainbow of fruity and sour ales from Belgium, with a small number of Northwest-style beers and ciders acting as the occasionally needed sideshow. Throw down for some stoemp—Belgian potatoes—or drunken pig sausage and make a fine middle-European night of it.

Happy hour: 3-7 pm and 10 pm-close Monday-Saturday, all day Sunday. Cheap food, $1 off select drinks.

Entertainment: Brewer takeovers and visits, and plenty of soccer on the screen, whether Timbers, U.S. national or Belgian.
