Previously home to the Happy Garden Chinese restaurant, Sweet Leaf's building is a kitschy old diner space in a relatively sketchy neighborhood. Aesthetically, the shop splits the difference with nu-rock pouring out of its Sonos speakers and some gigantic pixelated murals of animals on the walls. Technically a chain dispensary—there are five locations in Colorado, and more are apparently on the way in Las Vegas and Chicago—Sweet Leaf manages to feel right at home on 122nd Avenue, and sells doughnut- and bacon-shaped pipes in deference to its new home. The shop's biggest draw, though, is its wide selection (about three dozen strains) and its across-the-board pricing at $8 or less per gram, before tax. The handsome goateed bros behind the counter are patient and professional; the security guard seems edgy. Welcome to 122nd.
