Cheap Eats 2008

Cup & Saucer is Portland's quintessential breakfast diner, with the weekend lines and loyal regulars its position implies, but its World Famous Garden Scramble ($7.75) feels a bit run-of-the-mill these days. It's good, sure, but as far as vegetarian-friendly eateries go, it's not very progressive. For a spicier start, try the black bean and Jack cheese omelet ($7.75) or Hell's Huevos ($7.25). And don't forgo the baked goods—the coffee cake and scones are delectable. (JG)
