So you're feeling gloomy lately. That gray blanket of fog on top of tax returns and impending Singles Awareness Day is just bringing you down.
Relax. Mount Hood Community College has the perfect outlet for your grief: mock funerals.
The community college's Funeral Service Education program needs volunteers to pose as bereaved family members for its 15th annual mock funeral series. Second-year funeral service students will discuss your "funeral service options," such as cremation versus burial, urn and casket selections, "green" burial options, and any other worrisome questions that keep you up at night.
"This event provides FSE students with an opportunity to practice working with families," said instructor Terri Canfield in a news release. "It is also an opportunity for volunteers to experience the process of making funeral arrangements in a comfortable environment without the difficult emotions that accompany a real death."
For the first time, students will also offer services for pet memorialization.
The funeral arrangement exercise will take place Tuesday, Feb. 22nd at 9am - 4pm at Mt. Hood's Gresham campus (26000 SE Stark Street). To volunteer, contact mhccmockarranagements@gmail.com or call 489-8505.
