Portland's newest restaurant row, Division is where tourists and locals can happily nosh together. The past half-decade's building boom has packed the street with something for every taste.
EAT & DRINK:
If the wait for famously spicy Thai at Pok Pok (3226 SE Division St., 232-1387, pokpokpdx.com) is long, try its little sibling, Sen Yai (3384 SE Division St., 236-3573, pokpoksenyai.com). Across the street, The Richmond Bar (3203 SE Division St., 208-3075, therichmondbar.com) does classic cocktails and Apex (1216 SE Division St., 273-9227, apexbar.com) dominates the beer-and-bike scene with its extensive patio. The pizza slices at Roman Candle Baking Company (3377 SE Division St., 971-302-6605, romancandlebaking.com) are hefty enough to nourish a gladiator.
SHOP:
The trendy apparel at Adorn (3366 SE Division St., 505-7424, shopadorn.com) is economical, but if your sartorial savvy requires boutique chic, check out House of Commons (3370 SE Division St., 971-229-1432, houseofcommonspdx.com) or Nationale (3360 SE Division St., 477-9786, nationale.us), a design-forward take on the Portland stuff store.
THINGS TO DO:
Stroll Tidbit Food Farm and Garden (Southeast 28th Place and Division Street), a postmodern take on a shopping-mall food court. While there, sample perfumes in a remodeled Airstream at Menagerie (773-368-3950, menagerie-shop.com), or hop on Lodekka's (lodekka.com) double-decker bus to browse vintage treasures.
ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT:
For the adventurous, Oregon Theatre (3530 SE Division St., 232-7469) is one of the state's last adult theaters (there used to be a lot of them). For everyone else, the Clinton Street Theater (2522 SE Clinton St., 238-5588, cstpdx.com) presents indie films and live performances.
