If New Vansterdam owner Brian Budz's plan works out, he'll oversee the largest collection of dispensaries in the States before the new year. With the busiest dispensary in Vancouver, another one in Portland, and another in Hood River, he also plans five more in Washington, and hopes for 15 within the year. The Beaverton shop is a perfect example of NV's suave business model—a minimalist retail area paneled in raw wood, gothic touches like glass apothecary jars filled with bud from many Oregonian sources, and pristine displays of high-CBD shatter or $700 glass pieces. From the highway, it looks like a small country home-turned-retailer, neighboring a ramshackle barbershop. But inside, the airy space is the Apple Store of dispensaries, and that's on purpose—NV plans to equip staffers with tablets and keep the public area stark for the most elite bud-buying experience in Beaverton, even when the anticipated hordes of recreational buyers swarm in.
