Oregon's got some girth—like, Magnum-level girth. Not as much girth as Texas or Alaska, but still it's the ninth largest state in the U.S., with 98,378 square miles.
If Oregon were its own country, it would be the 77th largest in the world. And if Cascadia happens, who knows how high it would rank?
A storage company called Self Storage has created an extensive infographic showing how different countries would compare in size to Oregon. The graphic piles different countries inside the state's border, so the world can know what countries could fit inside Oregon if it were a storage unit.
To be sure that the sizes of the countries Self Storage compared to Oregon were accurate, they used a site called thetruesize.com as opposed to common sites like Google Maps which use the Mercator projection—a common tool that distorts actual size of countries in favor of defined shape.
It is unclear what exactly Self Storage is advertising here, unless seeing Austria inside of Oregon gives you the urge to buy storage units. But, this infographic is undeniably fun to look at.
