Stories worth knowing. Reporting worth supporting. Willamette Week's biggest fundraiser of the year is underway. Help fund independent reporting that is free for everyone.

Give today. Keep the stories coming.

It doesn’t take much to realize how much we love Portland — and why, each year since 2004, we’ve produced this year-end campaign to support local nonprofits.

These great organizations serve as the backbone of the Portland-area community. Our goal with Give!Guide is straightforward and important: to offer you the easiest — and most efficient — way to support them and do good for our neighbors.

Beginning here, you can read up on 281 impactful Portland-area nonprofits. You can then go to our website (giveguide.org) to show them your love. As you do, please keep this harsh reality in mind: Without these amazing organizations — whose employees and volunteers work long, hard hours — our community would simply fail to function. The needs are that great. These nonprofits are that important.

As you read about them in these pages and online (where each has its own profile), we hope you’ll be gobsmacked by their cumulative contribution to our well-being.

And while you’re on your Give!Guide journey, be sure to check out this year’s Skidmore Prize winners. They’re all 35 or younger, come from incredibly varied backgrounds, and work wonders.

For the uninitiated, here’s a little background: Willamette Week kicked off this campaign in 2004. It began as a modest effort to get younger Portlanders in the annual giving habit, and has morphed into the largest giving platform in the metropolitan area, with more than $82 million raised since its inception. This year’s goal is for at least 17,000 of you to donate upwards of $9 million in support of the fabulous organizations listed in these pages and on the Give!Guide website. (Reminder: It’s giveguide.org.)

Please jump in with all you’ve got — and do so more than once between now and midnight on Dec. 31, when our giving door closes. If you do, you’ll likely come across one of our 12 Big Give Days, during which every donor is entered to win spectacular prizes. Think shopping spree at Powell’s, an e-bike, a coastal getaway, and more.

If you’re 35 or under, you’re Give!Guide’s original reason for being. We’re here to help you get into the year-end giving habit so our community can properly tend to itself in the years to come. That’s why we’ve set aside exclusive Big Give Day prizes for you, as well as a brand-new end-of-campaign prize drawing just for younger donors. As always, we’ll also award $10,000 in prize money to the nonprofits most supported by donors 35 and under.

Big Thanks to Our sponsors

We could not do this every year without a tremendous outpouring of support from 436 — count ’em: 436 — local businesses. They are some of the Portland area’s most wonderful companies. Please give them your thanks whenever you come across them or their employees.

As we say every year in this space: Please let your credit or debit card roam free between now and midnight on New Year’s Eve. If we all pitch in, Portland will be much the better for it.

Thank YOU!
