Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont) has the Portland crowds, the Portland donations, and the Portland birds. Now he's getting a Portland office.
Sanders' presidential campaign announced this morning it will open a field office this Wednesday in the Grant Park neighborhood along Northeast Broadway.
It will be the second office in Oregon for Sanders, who is chasing Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic Party nomination. The Sanders campaign opened a Eugene office April 2.
The opening of Oregon field offices suggests the Sanders campaign sees Oregon's May 17 primary as a key step in its effort to overtake Clinton in delegates. Portland has been the site of two Moda Center rallies for Sanders, including one where he was visited by a house finch.
President Barack Obama opened a field office in Portland during his 2008 run. It was located on Northeast Killingsworth Street, in what is now a 7-11.
Sanders' office will be located at 2717 Northeast Broadway Street, in what used to be a Remax real-estate office. The opening will be at 6 pm Wednesday, April 6.
