AFRIKA BAMBAATAA

For their current tour, DJ Shadow and Jurassic 5's Cut Chemist were given access to hip-hop's El Dorado: Afrika Bambaataa's (pictured) massive vinyl collection, which he loaned to Cornell University in 2013. We asked Cut Chemist about the five most mind-blowing artifacts he and Shadow unearthed on the greatest crate-digging expedition ever.

Dogs of War

“South Bronx,” Boogie Down Productions

“Gangster Boogie,” Chicago Gangsters

“Unified Rebelution,” Jurassic 5

SEE IT: The Renegades of Rhythm Tour is at Roseland Theater, 8 NW 6th Ave., with Edan & Paten Locke and DJ Wicked, on Tuesday, Oct. 7. 8 pm. $28.50. 21+.
