Bar Guide 2015: Holman's

15 SE 28th Ave., 231-1093, holmanspdx.com. 8 am-2:30 am daily.

Holman's has its own little customs. If you drink everything from its selection of top-shelf whiskey, you get your name on a brass plaque. If you order a non-Widmer hefeweizen, it still comes with a lemon. And if you ask the guy at the bar chasing his Jägermeister with Oly at 4 pm on a sunny Saturday afternoon if that's his usual drink, he'll answer, "Yeah…I'm a candyass." So it goes at this 82-year-old Buckman haunt, a bar's bar, which has a neon sign, a surprisingly juicy burger, a workmanlike drink selection (except during brunch, when the bloody mary bar expands into a Santeria shine made of hot sauce) and a crowd that's friendly but not especially chatty.

Happy hour: $1 off wells and drafts, food specials. $1 off whiskey on Wednesdays.

Entertainment: Spinning the unfairly weighted, Vegas-illegal wheel to see if you get free food.
