Escape from New York Pizza

You haven't seen by-the-slice prices like these since the days you dined at Winco. At this Northwest 23rd Avenue haunt, swiveling red stools and tacky New York City kitsch—including multiple Statuettes of Liberty—fight for space with rounds of foldable, thin-crust, (need we say it?) New York-style pizzas. The choices are basic: cheese ($2.50) and pepperoni ($2.75). The daily feature pie, usually veggie or olive, rounds out the offerings and never tops $3. Beer and sodas are also available, as are whole pies for big appetites. (AG)

622 NW 23rd Ave., 227-5423. Lunch and dinner daily. Cash only.
