Former Portland Trail Blazers center Arvydas Sabonis will be enshrined in the basketball Hall of Fame this summer.
The announcement today of Sabonis' entry into the Hall of Fame as part of a class that includes Dennis Rodman, Chris Mullin and Artis Gilmore makes Sabonis the sixth ex-Blazer to make the Hall.
Sabonis had a solid career with the Blazers, playing seven seasons with Portland. But by the time he started playing for the Blazers at age 30 after a storied international career for the Soviet Union (and then his native Lithuania after the breakup of the Soviet Union), he was nowhere near the remarkably athletic big man the Blazers had spotted when they drafted him in his heyday a decade earlier.
