Former Rep. Mary Nolan Lands At FamilyCare

Mary Nolan

Former State Rep. Mary Nolan (D-Portland) was unlikely to stay on the sidelines long after coming up short in her campaign to defeat incumbent City Commissioner Amanda Fritz last November.

As WW reported, Nolan was recently a finalist for the top job at Planned Parenthood of the Columbia Willamette, but lost out on that job.

But she's now been hired by FamilyCare, a large Medicare and Medicaid managed-care provider in Portland, according to a statement the company released today.

Nolan's new job, vice president of business and community development, will put her smack in the middle of Gov. John Kitzhaber's wholesale transformation of the state's healthcare delivery system. A six-term House veteran who served as co-chair of the budget-writing joint Ways and Means Committee and as House majority leader, Nolan brings a wealth of Capitol experience to a company whose success will depend on its ability to navigate complicated new legislative directives.
