North Williams Avenue pizza spot Oro di Napoli announced on their website in August they'd be closing for the rest of the summer and re-opening September 3. That date came and went, and it looks like the pizza spot—originally attached to Bluehour alum Kenny Giambalvo—is no more, after a surprisingly short run. Taking its place, eventually, will be a new pie spot run by Jason Kallingal, ex-owner of onetime PSU Italian hangout Paccini, which was bought out by Rogue Brewery in 2011. The name is TBD, but Kallingal tells WW he'll be remodeling the place to create a warmer atmosphere, and he'll be using the Italian wood-fired oven's 900-degree hot-hot-hot capabilities to make pizza by the slice within minutes, rather than cooking it ahead of time and leaving it under a heat lamp.
Meanwhile, the much-missed Amalie Roberts wine bar Kir may see its old spot at 22 SE 7th Ave. turned into a creperie that's already very familiar to the farmer's market crowd. John Esbeck of C'est Si Bon! has applied for a liquor license for a wine bar and crepe shop in that spot.
The chain gang's in full force: Liquor apps are in for the anticipated Nob Hill (1610 NW 23rd Ave.) location of St. Jack, the Concordia version of Bunk at 2017 NE Alberta St., and the Southeast Division St. Honore Boulangerie (3333 SE Division St.)
Right around the way from the Eastmoreland Farmer's Market, it look like Sellwood's getting a specialty food spot called the Moreland Farmer's Pantry at Southease Bybee Boulevard and Milwaukie Avenue.
Sok Sab Bai wants to serve some liquor, and has notified the State of Oregon about this.
Yuki Sushi & Sake Bar at Hillsboro's Orenco Station looks to be changing owners. As either a handwritten typo or differentiation from the Yuki on Northeast Broadway their application lists the restaurant as "Yuki's."
The Winning Spot sports bar on 13056 Stark St., catty-corner from Gresham, looks to be changing hands to Elke Diegner.
