Hop Porn: Harvest Edition

On the Aurora farm where the tastiest part of your beer comes from.

Prepare to feel thirst.

Earlier this week, Hopworks took a load of local beer scribes out to a century-old organic hop farm in Aurora. They gave us beer on the bus. Then, hop honcho Pat Leavy gave us a tour. Then, Chipotle gave us—and the hardworking people who run the vintage 1964 "hop picker" machine that separates hop from leaf and bine—some burritos. Then, they gave us more beer. It was a very nice day.

Between beers and burritos, I took these photos.

This is how Nugget hops—the specialty of the Leavy farm—go from 18-foot trellises to the hopback and then into cans and then your belly.
