Portland International Beerfest

Now in a new location and with five times the space, this year's International Beerfest will be bigger than ever. Patrons will be happy to rediscover hand-picked pours like Westmalle's excellently spicy and surprisingly alcoholic Tripel, and local imitations of world styles like Basecamp's terrific Vienna Lager. For the sheer size of it, PIBF might actually begin to give Oregon Beer Fest a run for its money, even if beer nerds have known it was among the best of the big fests for some time now. PH. Holladay Park, NE 11th and Holladay St., portland-beerfest.com. Noon Friday June 26, Saturday, June 27, and Sunday June 28. Free entry, $25 for 10 tasting tickets

Dekum Triangle Cider Stroll

They might be a bit late on the solstice, but who’s counting, anyway? Base Camp Brewing partners with Astoria’s Buoy Brewing to bring a special India Red Lager—think Laurelwood’s Free Range Red but with an even cleaner yeast note—to their annual summer block party. Sponsored by the Outdoor Project, and with food by Pacific Pie Company, Koi Fusion, and Fire Box Food, the party will also feature live music to go with your beer. All that, plus outdoor companies like Keen and Next Adventure will be running giveaways and gear demos. PH. Base Camp Brewing Company, 930 SE Oak St. 2 pm.

Day Of The Baer

In honor of its anniversary, Baerlic Brewing Co. will pour more than 30 beers rotated across 22 taps—seasonal, barrel-aged, infused, forever, whatever—from a Belgian golden strong aged in a fresh pinot noir barrel to a Doug E Fresh Douglas fir aged IPA. Parker Hall

Parker Hall is a writer, musician, and home brewer from Portland. He is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, where he studied jazz percussion with drum legend Billy Hart (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock). Now a freelance writer and professional member of the city's jazz and indie rock scenes, he spends most of his days writing, playing music or drinking brews in his spacious North Portland basement.

Willamette Week’s reporting has concrete impacts that change laws, force action from civic leaders, and drive compromised politicians from public office.
