—The company had a practice of paying workers with checks that employees cannot cash—even at the company's own bank—without paying a fee. At other times, the company issued payroll cards that required fees for withdrawing cash.
—The restaurant did not pay workers for breaks of less than 30 minutes. In some cases, managers would transfer an employee's hours from one store to another or one workweek to another to reduce labor costs.
—Some workers were forced to perform extra work off the clock.
The lawsuit, filed by Lake Oswego lawyer Jon Egan, seeks an undisclosed sum to be proven at trial.
Jack in the Box headquarters in San Diego has not yet returned a phone call seeking comment.
