Drink 2010

Housed in Portland's historic Powers Building (built in 1887), Paddy's stocks a ceiling-high, seven-shelf bar that is at least 30 feet long. That's a lot of booze. If you're not in the mood for Jameson or Smithwick's, try the house-special lemon drop. Paddy's bartenders use fresh lemons, and serve the lemon drop in a martini glass accompanied by the remainder in a pint glass (let me repeat—pint glass!). It's like going to a malt shop and getting an old-fashioned shake in a glass, and then the giant metal mixing cup too. Win!
What to drink: Lemon drop.
Happy hour: $5 menu, $4 well drinks; 4-7 pm and 10 pm-2 am daily.
Entertainment: TV, live music on Fridays, watching the bartenders shimmy up the bar ladder.
