Sustained disruption of the current system is the only way to create a new sustainable system ["Bring the Noise," WW, Dec. 10, 2014]. Business as usual cannot and will not be allowed to continue.
Many people from different racial and cultural backgrounds are united to force changes in how the police and justice system serve us. We need to let the police and politicians know that the status quo isn't working anymore. The police are supposed to serve and protect us all, but as history shows, they are only serving and protecting the moneyed interest of the 1 percent.
There needs to be a new paradigm that supports community policing by citizens, and that holds the police accountable. The pain of racial, class and economic oppression that has been inflicted on too many of us who aren't wealthy white males must be felt by everyone before needed changes will take place.

Citizens criticizing their fellow citizens' marches on public roads alternately amuse and annoy me. Has it ever crossed their minds that it's owning and driving a car that's keeping them "blocked" on city streets? Bicyclists and pedestrians can always get by, even when the street's being used by people marching for this important cause.

"But can they make a real difference?" I am so sick of this question. Everyone should turn this question onto themselves, or onto their communities at large. Of course they can make a difference, but they need your help.

MODA'S CHEATING PRESIDENT
Unethical behavior is unbecoming of a health care provider. Unethical behavior for a president of a corporation who makes over $400,000 per year is unacceptable ["Medical Error," WW, Dec. 10, 2014].
It makes shareholders and board members consider: What else has he falsified? Dr. William E. Johnson should resign. Or the Moda Health board should step up and kick him out.
Otherwise, Moda will come to mean Medicine Others Don't Accept.

PROGRAM FOR MOMS IN PRISON
Why are they cutting this program?—$300,000 out of a $1.4 billion budget is pennies ["Hard Time Gets Harder," WW, Dec. 10, 2014]. What are they leaving in place that could potentially be cut? What is the salary of the Department of Corrections brass? I'd love to see WW dig a little deeper on this.

CORRECTIONS
A photograph of Dr. William E. Johnson ("Medical Error," WW, Dec. 10, 2014) had an incorrect credit. The photograph came from Oregon Business. A story about ocean acidification ("Project Censored," WW, Dec. 10, 2014) inaccurately identified a region affected. The Barents Sea is in the Arctic Ocean. WW regrets the errors.
