Back when I wrote a "Cut of the Day" for my favorite new Portland act, I talked about how the identity of the band wasn't as important as the dreamy, aching nostalgia you could hear in both their tracks. Today Pitchfork offshoot Altered Zones posted a video for Blouse's "Into Black" and also released a bit of information that might prove me wrong: Blouse is a trio composed of singer Charlie Hinton, Jacob Portrait, and Patrick Adams, and the group just signed to hip Brooklyn record label Captured Tracks. The signing makes a lot of sense when you look at Captured Tracks' roster, which is heavy on post-chillwave standouts like Wild Nothing, Minks and Beach Fossils, bands that all traffic in the kind of hazy pop that gets posted on Gorilla Vs. Bear. I'm pretty stoked to see these guys (and girl!) get some blog love, and the "Into the Black" video—made by Ben Razavi and Bernard Pantoja and set to a series of fireworks clips from the 1991 French film Les Amants du Pont-Neu—should only catapult Blouse to an even bigger level.

Still no concrete details on Blouse's debut full-length, but the band does have two live dates set: Opening for Wild Nothing and Abe Vigoda on Tuesday, March 1 at Holocene, and opening for Starfucker in late April.
