The Fluoride Debate, Take One: The Sides Battle for WW's Endorsements

WW hosted the pro- and anti-fluoride campaigns in our offices last week as part of our endorsement interview ritual. And the two campaigns—which for months have been antagonistic and unpleasant toward each other—lived up to expectations during the meeting. We could have sold tickets.

Instead, we offer some video snippets of the endorsement interview. The full video will be available when WW makes its endorsement in this campaign on Measure 26-151, which would require the city of Portland to begin adding fluoride to its water supply.

In these two clips, the opposing sides make opening arguments. For the supporters—the Healthy Kids, Healthy Portland campaign—we hear from Mike Plunkett, a dentist and dental director for Care Oregon. In the second clip, we hear from Rick North and Kellie Barnes, representatives of Clean Water Portland, the anti-fluoride campaign.
