A controversial rent-a-pet company first featured in WW in 2012 has been sued by a local couple who say the outfit is illegally getting around rules aimed at protecting animals from neglect.
Seattedogspot.com reports that Sandee and Walter Strunk allege in Multnomah County Circuit Court that Hannah the Pet Society is avoiding state and local standards for veterinary and boarding practices by carrying out a "pernicious form of pet leasing."
The web site credits the Courthouse News Service with first reporting on the lawsuit.
UPDATED: Hannah says the case with the Strunks has been settled. No terms were announced. A spokeswoman for the company says Hannah may issue a statement on the case.
Hannah matches pets with customers and then leases the animal for a fee. Hannah must provide all vet services for the animal, which the company continues to own.
