It's true what they say: You really do need to go to the Oregon Country Fair sometime.
Not for a whole weekend of camping—one afternoon should be plenty—and not for the music, which is sort of a sideshow to this carnival of craft and hippie food in the woods outside Eugene.
The Fair wrapped up its 46th year yesterday with record attendance. This year's fair was the biggest in the modern era, and organizers said they now expect it to get even bigger in the years to come. They've prepared for that by adding a new open space with a dance tent in an open meadow.
Here's what we saw on a guided (like, a publicist stood with us for literally every second we were on the Fair's nearly 500-acre property) tour of the event's figure-eight trail.
