Today I was listening to A Weather's Everyday Balloons album and wondering, "Damn, what's up with A Weather these days?" So, after reminding co-founder Aaron Gerber just how amazing the band's song "Third of Life" was, I asked him what was up with one of my very favorite Portland bands.
"Your questions about gossip and new horizons has prompted me to do what I've been putting off for a while but which it is probably time to do, and that is to send a sort of "press release" about the status of A Weather," Gerber wrote. "People now and again inquire about what we are up to and I always evade those questions with vagueness. I'm not sure if this will be of newsworthy interest to you as it is a little anti-climactic, but here goes anyway."
In the quite newsworther press release below, Gerber says that A Weather is going on hiatus and leaving Portland. Ouch. The good news, Gerber says, is that the band isn't breaking up. We'll hold on to the hope that we'll get to see the band back in Portland sometime in the not-too-distant future. Here's are a few A Weather videos, followed by Gerber's press release-type thing.
