Here’s How Far Portlanders Have Ridden in the First Six Months of BikeTown

We really like to bike here—who knew?!

(Christine Dong)

In the first six months of operation since Portland's long-awaited bike-share program launched in July, customers wheeled a combined 330,642 miles. That's the equivalent of 52 round trips between Portland, Ore., and Portland, Maine, on the orange cycles.

That's also the same distance that it would take if you could bike from Portland to Jakarta—39 times. Or to San Francisco 519 times, and that's in just the program's first six months. Despite the initial backlash to BikeTown, it turns out we use it a lot.
